Williamson

Me and My Shadow

I asked about a dozen Lakewood residents yesterday if they knew where Williamson was and not a single one recognized the street name. One person even accused me of making it up. Well, unless you have a storage unit at Cube Smart, I’m not surprised this street is a mystery.

Williamson is a tiny side street just west of W. 117th street that basically runs along the northern border of a storage unit facility. Yesterday was Friday the 13th, so that inspired me to get up early and ride to this street in the dark of the night.

I completed the Bike Lakewood Scavenger Hunt earlier this summer and had won one of the grand prizes. It was a headlight and taillight for my bike. I have been meaning to try them out, and this was the perfect occasion.

The lights worked awesome, and I snapped a picture of my bike on Williamson and a cool shadowy selfie against the side of the Cube Smart building.

I also noticed that there are more walkers and joggers than cars on the road at this time of the morning. The winning count though was for deer. On my ride down Lake Road and back I passed 3 cars, 5 joggers, 6 walkers and 9 deer. Two of the deer were even hanging out in the bike lane. I tried to snap a picture, but they dashed off just as I got my camera out.
