George Washington
Today we celebrate Washington’s birthday, so it seemed fitting that I would pass an impressive flag displayed on Baxterly. It had a strong, stable flagpole, a well-maintained flag, and a spotlight to keep the flag lit at night. This is a flag that is cared for and respected.
As I finished my short walk down Baxterly (it is a connecting street from Madison Avenue to Roosevelt Elementary School) I reflected on how leaders don’t always get the respect they deserve. It is hard to serve in a leadership role, and I think I am often too quick to criticize and not willing enough to give compliments. If you talk to someone today in a leadership role my suggestion is to try to give them a compliment in honor of George W.
I also passed my fourth Little Free Library. Every time I find one now it is like finding an Easter Egg. This one was covered in snow and ice, so it was appropriate that it was painted white.
