A Lorax Moment
Bayes is a street that juts off Warren Road right when it makes its ‘S’ turn before the highway. As soon as I turned down the street I noticed several interesting looking trees. Lakewood may be known as the City of Homes, but I think it could also be called the City of Trees. Walking down every street in Lakewood makes you take notice even more.
I then spotted a gnome couple that had set-up their camper next to thick old tree on a tree lawn. I interviewed Gertrude, and even though her wife took some lawnmower damage last summer, she agreed that Lakewood was an ideal place for them to live. She went on to say, “trees provide shelter for animals, shade for our yards, and character for our community”. I totally agree!
As Bayes was continuing past the south side of Roosevelt Elementary School, I saw this majestic pine tree rising to the clear blue sky. I think this has become my favorite Lakewood tree so far.
Just before coming to the end of the street I saw Free Little Library #5. Amazingly it was decorated with images of “The Giving Tree” on both sides of the box. It was as if the gnomes had painted it themselves.
