Backbone of Lakewood
Walking down Belle this evening felt like walking down the spine of Lakewood. Belle is one of the only streets that goes from Lake Avenue past Detroit, Franklin/Hilliard and Madison without changing its name. It felt like I was making an epic journey.
Soon after starting my walk I passed my sixth Little Library so far, and from the looks of the sign I think this might be the OG. I was tempted to take a book for myself.
The strangest part of the trip was this huge wildlife preserve that I noticed off Belle near Detroit. In all sincerity, I hope this lot turns into a vibrant, thriving development in the heart of Lakewood.
My return trip ended with a bang. As I was heading back home and turning from Belle back onto Lake a fellow bike rider gave me a “Hey A to Z” shout out and threw me a peace sign for encouragement. It inspired me to pick up the pace and finish in style.
