Catching My Second Wind
I got home tonight as it was getting dark. After making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen I wasn’t sure I still wanted to tackle Brown tonight. I have allowed for one off day per week and a few weeks for vacation. However, something was still pulling me to put on my exercise clothes and climb on the tandem bike.
As I left the driveway amazingly it felt like the wind was always behind me. Part of it might have been the mental high I am starting to feel as I complete each route.
This trip was also my first adventure at night and Brown did not disappoint. There were probably 20-25 houses on the street that had simple white lights hanging from their front porches. It added a connected feeling to the neighborhood, and I wondered if it was an organized effort or just a domino effect over time. I would have missed out on this element during the day.
There were also some amazing trees that looked striking against the gray-blue twilight sky. I took my selfie next to a small oak tree that was still hanging onto its brown leaves from the fall. The other picture was an enormous tree at the very end of the street. It branched out like a lightning strike, appropriate for this wonderful, windy night.
