Mr. Happy
I felt like I was going back to my very first street today. The route to Cliffdale was similar to Abbieshire (my starting street), as it is another short north-south street between Lake and Edgewater just west of Lakewood Park. Cliffdale had a cool vibe. It was dotted with cottage style homes and felt like a street in a New England college town. Check it out next time you are in the area.
I ran into another Little Free Library, and I’ll admit I have lost count (in a good way – I love how many of these are in town). It then occurred to me that I haven’t looked through one yet. Today was the day. I spent quite a while perusing through the selections when I found the perfect book for me – Mr. Happy. I remember reading the “Mr.” series and “Little Miss” books as a kid and was excited to find this one for me. I have always been an optimist (my license plate is HLF FULL), and I believe having a smile on my face helps me get through the day. The premise of this book is that being around happy people can make you happy as well. If happiness is contagious then I hope I can help other people catch it.
As I was finishing up my walk, I also noticed a yard sign stating this year’s Kindergarten class with graduate in 2036. My youngest will graduate from Lakewood High School next year (2025), and I love the thought of other families in Lakewood just starting their school age years. I also started thinking about what I would be doing in 2036. Hey – if all goes well maybe I will be retired and spending my newfound free time completing “Lakewood Z to A”.
