Unique Crossings
I started down the last Clifton street just north of the big intersection of Clifton Boulevard, West Clifton and Clifton Road. Heading south and crossing over the busy morning commuting traffic on Clifton Boulevard made the beginning of my route feel hectic and rushed.
As I crossed over to the south side of Clifton Boulevard and continued down Clifton Road the feeling completely changed. It was quiet and calming and I could hear the birds chirping and the squirrels squeaking. Then I came upon the only DEER XING sign I have seen so far. It was at the intersection of Arlington and Clifton Road, and I wondered if the deer actually adhere to the instructions and cross here. I waited a few minutes to try to capture one in action but had to give up and just take a pic of the sign.
As I got close to the end of Clifton Road I noticed an old industrial looking footbridge over the railroad track. This awesome crossing is no longer in use, but it still provided a cool picture in front of the rising morning sun. I wonder when this footbridge was decommissioned.
The most unusual part of the street was the abrupt ending. At the point where Sloane Subway intersects with Clifton Road, it immediately changes to Lake Road. That means there are neighbors on a continuous street where one has a Clifton Road address and the other has a Lake Road address. I double checked Google Maps and they were spot on with the change – so I guess if it’s on the street sign and the internet it must be true.
