Shopping Small
A co-worker of mine (Alex Solove) met me for my jog/walk today. I usually like to run by myself, but I must admit it was fun having a running partner today. My Strava Mapping App told me that I set my personal record in the 1 mile today, so I must have picked up my pace trying to show off.
Cranford runs from Lake Avenue to Detroit about halfway between Lakewood Park and W. Clifton. As I was walking down the street snapping pictures, Alex commented how much more he was noticing unique houses today compared to other times he has walked down Cranford. I guess my Lakewood A to Z observation skills were rubbing off.
The best part of the journey was our arrival at Cranford and Detroit. We decided to take a peek in the small businesses located on the northeast and northwest corners.
Sweet Designs was our first stop. Alex and I took a picture with one of the chocolatiers, Lisa Campbell. You can see the display case of truffles in the background. I couldn’t resist, purchasing a 4-pack of dark chocolate truffles I happily carried on the jog home. Thank you, Lisa, for your hospitality.
At the other corner was My Mind’s Eye, a new and vintage record store. There was quite the inventory. The clerk at the front counter even said they often have long lines out the door and around the block when new albums release. My teenage son, Joe, started listening to vinyl a few years ago, so I’ll have to make a return trip with him in the near future. What a great afternoon “Shopping Small” in Lakewood.
