“Hanging” Around
Exactly 12 hours after finishing Detroit Avenue yesterday evening, I was heading back out to jog/walk Detroit Extension. My cat woke me up around 5:15 a.m. and I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I decided to head out for my earliest walk thus far.
As you are travelling west down Detroit, Detroit Extension is the road that continues straight forward instead of going “Around the Corner” and over the bridge to Rocky River.
Soon after starting down the street, I noticed a most unusual building. It reminded me of an airplane hangar and I had to take a selfie in front of it. I wonder what the purpose of this unique structure is and when it was built.
I then checked Google Maps to see where Detroit Extension ended. The street looked like it was only two blocks long, ending at the entrance to the Commodore Club Apartments, but Google Maps showed it continuing around the back of the apartment building. I decided to complete the route and was rewarded with a cool moment. The almost full moon was still shining over the western sky, illuminating the Metro Parks below. My picture doesn’t do it justice. This was just one more reminder from nature that I should always go the distance and not cut corners.
