Edwards

A Tale of Two Corners

I love that we have an intersection in Lakewood with two polarizing options to choose from. As I finished up my walk where Edwards runs into Detroit Avenue, it was interesting to reflect on the four establishments at that location.

  1. On the Northeast corner you have a baseball diamond / park and on the Southwest corner you have our Lakewood YMCA; both great options for those looking to get or stay fit.

2. On the Northwest corner you have the Lakewood Truck Park and on the Southeast corner you have a Dairy Queen; both great options if you want to spend quality time with family or friends indulging in a much-needed treat.

I think a balanced life probably needs a little bit of both, and Edwards has that covered. I must admit that even though I have swum laps at the Lakewood YMCA and coached T-Ball teams on the baseball diamond, I have probably made the most visits to the Dairy Queen.

The rest of Edwards is not to be ignored either. The houses were varied and beautiful. I noticed many of the front yards had small hills sloping away from the front porches towards the street. Most yards were blooming with daffodils, and one front porch even showed how pleasant Edwards can be even if they want you to vacate the premises.
