The Dog Whisperer
Eldred is about 100 steps from my office, just one block over to the west. I was tempted to walk the street during my lunch break today, but that would be breaking my own rules (I drove to work today and I said I would jog or ride my bike to each street). So, I drove home after work, got out the tandem and rode back up to Eldred. It felt good to get my exercise in.
Despite being so close to my work, I have never walked down Eldred and have rarely driven on it. It was fun taking the time to explore a nearby street and look at it in a new way.
Towards the beginning of my walk I came across a dog walker (Hallie) taking a trip around the block. I told her I had not had good luck with dog related selfies and asked if I could try again with Savannah. To my delight she said yes, and I set my selfie timer to 10 seconds. Well for the second Thursday in a row my doggie friend decided to kiss me right before the picture took. Savannah’s kiss was a bit longer than Moose on Donald last week, so I was able to capture the moment in the picture. I’m beginning to think I have some natural connection with dogs. I’ll have to see if I can go 3 for 3 next Thursday.
As I was finishing up my walk I came across the biggest tree I remember passing thus far. This behemoth was towering over the nearby house. I think you would need 6 adults in a circle holding hands to make it around the circumference of the tree. I bet this tree is at least 100 years old, and I hope it survives another 100 years.
