Curve Ball
This morning I walked the second (alphabetically) of the three consecutive “Cliff” streets heading north off Lake Avenue, having recently completed Erie Cliff on Eclipse Day.
At the entry to Forest Cliff there was a long, curving stone wall that looked like it could be from the 1800s (and maybe it was). The curves didn’t stop there. Most of the streets I have walked so far have been completely straight, with some having a mild “s” curve thrown in to spice things up. Forest Cliff took it to the next level. The street felt like a curving serpent before ending at the shores of Lake Erie.
The houses on the street also fit this unexpected style. Every one was unique, like it had a story to tell. They were diverse in style, age and color – ranging from houses that looked like the 1800s wall at the entry to modern masterpieces on the lake. If the residents of Forest Cliff ever wanted to do a fundraiser for charity, they could probably sell out a street-wide “House Tour”.
There was also the largest Little Free Library I have ever seen. It was double wide, with a planter hanging from the side and a wide variety of books inside. Today was my 70th street and I think I am at 20 Little Free Libraries. I never thought I would average 2 per week.
