Chiming In
I finished up the “F” streets today. My total distance traveled is at 333 miles. Given that I was 1/3 of the way through the streets on Tuesday of this week, I should finish up with right around 1,000 total miles. I have completed all of these routes without wearing headphones or air Pods. I know some people like to exercise with music, but I prefer listening to my surroundings. It also gives me quiet time to think.
On Fry today that approach rewarded me with a chorus of windchimes. It was a breezy morning, and as soon as I turned onto the street from Clifton Boulevard I could hear them ringing. One house on the west side had two large metal chimes that sounded like church bells. Almost across the street on a second story porch there was another house with three wind chimes. I stood between those two houses and closed my eyes for about a minute. I’m sure there are some summer days when everyone has their windows open and the windchimes might be annoying to the neighbors, but on this quiet Saturday morning it was like music therapy.
The other thing that stood out on Fry was the number of houses that had personalized “Fry” address signs. I would estimate that I saw 10 houses with signs proudly displaying their street name. It was cool to see so many people showing pride in their street.
