Lakewood Falls
When I arrived at the intersection of Lincoln and Detroit, I immediately recognized Lakewood Babtist Church. I have been inside many times during the afternoons of “Light Up Lakewood” for my kid’s grade-school and middle-school musical performances. In fact, I was even recruited several of those years to emcee the event (along with Julie Warren). But the basement of the church is where some real fun takes place.
Nosotros Rock Climbing Gym is down the stairs, and I took a picture from their side entrance beneath the beautiful church mural. Our entire family partook one evening and we had a blast. The facility is a bouldering gym, meaning you can test out your climbing skills without the need of ropes or a harness. Even though I had several “falls”, the drop was never too far and there were plenty of soft cushions to keep me safe. If you haven’t been there yet I encourage you to give it a try.
The other “falls” that I encountered was a complete surprise. As I was walking down the street, I heard the sound of rushing water. Upon closer examination I discovered a waterfall streaming through someone’s front yard. This was not a water feature kit that you can buy at Home Depot, but a complete environment consisting of mossy rocks, dense foliage and a never-ending current. It is worth a viewing next time you are walking in the area.
