Movin’ Right Along

It’s funny how my mind works. I don’t listen to any music as I walk my streets, but I often sing to myself (usually out loud) when I have a song pop into my head. If I don’t know all the lyrics I will then change over to whistling. That happened to me this morning on Mathews.

Just after starting down the street, I passed a mailbox in the shape of a lime-colored bus, with mushrooms hanging from the bottom and covering the ground below. For some reason that made me think of the “Electric Mayhem” bus in the “Great Muppet Movie”. I then started singing my favorite song from that movie, “Movin’ Right Along”. That image of Kermit and Fozzie cruising down the road together put me in a fantastic mood, and I think this song could be the unofficial theme song for my Lakewood A to Z adventure.

Just then I heard a lovely humming noise coming from the road, as if to accompany my singing. It was from a car driving down the stylish brick road. I have walked down other brick streets (like Fischer and French), but this street had much newer bricks that looked like they were laid down in the last decade. It made for a wonderful tune as the cars passed by. Faster driving cars made a higher pitched sound. In fact, I bet you could orchestrate a song by having cars drive down the street at varying speeds.

As I finished up my walk at Detroit near Second Sole a verse of my new theme song came back into my memory.
