North Clifton Drive

Short and Sweet

One of the reasons I am completing this challenge is for the exercise, but every once in a while it is nice to have a really short street that is close to home. I think my entire route of jogging to North Clifton Drive, walking past the half dozen homes, and jogging home was less than a mile.

North Clifton Drive is a street running east-west just north of Horace Mann Elementary School. There was a sign near the entrance on both sides that read, “Private Drive – Residents Only”, but I was careful to walk quietly this morning as to not disturb anyone.

I have previously mentioned that I have been cognizant of the different “seasons” for blooming flowers, and it appears as if the summer solstice is peak season for lilies. I took a picture of a group of amazing yellow daylilies that were in a side yard.

I also noticed an owl decoy located on the top of one of the garages. In the last few days, I have seen several homes, garages and fences with plastic owls on the lookout. I believe the purpose of these owls it to scare away small rodents and pesky birds. I wonder how effective they are, and if they work I think I could use a few of these around my office to keep the mice families out of the basement.
