A Hare Raising Experience
I felt like the rabbits were out to get me this morning. As soon as I started down the street, I passed a bunny staring me down from his breakfast spot next to a tree. He didn’t even move when I approached to take a picture. As I continued, I noticed rabbits everywhere. The first “really thick” book I ever read was Watership Down that features warring rabbits, but I was hoping that these Olivewood bunnies were more on the peaceful side. I half-expected them to surround me and force me to take a trip to Giant Eagle to buy them carrots.
Today was also a milestone as I reached the 2/3 point of my journey. I have some well-earned break time coming up in July, but I think I’m actually going to finish up some time in Mid-October. I’m already getting a bit nostalgic realizing I’m on the downhill slope of this challenge.
I realized that even though Olivewood is located near the middle of Lakewood, I had never driven or walked down the street before today. I had traveled down its neighbors (Lincoln and Blossom Park), but for some reason not this street.
Near the end of my walk, I passed a house with a dozen painted rocks drying out front. It reminded me of our family vacation to Canada last summer. My cousin owns a cottage in Ontario, and we traveled there about a year ago. After collecting an assortment of flat stones, we spent a lazy afternoon painting them in the cottage. I hope my upcoming vacations leave me with more happy memories like this one, and I was grateful for Olivewood for bringing it back into my mind today.
