Parkhaven

Getting Charged Up

Today was my first Monday morning back to work after a weeklong vacation. I knew I had plenty of work waiting for me at the office, so starting my morning with a bike ride and a short street to walk was just what I needed. I have found that I tend to have more energy throughout the day if I exercise in the morning.

As I arrived at Parkhaven, the first thing I noticed was the charging station located near Cane’s. I know there are several charging stations spread throughout Lakewood, but this seemed like an odd location. I think Cane’s does most of their business at the drive-thru, and if you do go inside it is for a quick stop. As an owner of a plug-in electric vehicle, I appreciate the thought, just not the placement.

Parkhaven is a No-Outlet Street heading south from Detroit towards Lakewood High School. In fact, at the end of the street there was an old gate that looked like it used to be opened to cut through. The gate is now padlocked, and there was even a section of the fence that had 4-5 locks to prevent part of the chain-link from being pulled back. The street had a calm peaceful feeling once I got past the nearby Cane’s and Getgo, so I can appreciate the residents of this street not wanting it to be a shortcut to the high school.

One other unusual thing I observed was a massive pine tree near Detroit. It might be the tallest I have seen yet. It had long pinecones piled around the trunk that looked like sausages at first glance. As I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, it made me a bit hungry.
