Fun on Four Wheels
The Lakewood Club Apartments on the far east side of Lakewood are bordered by North Lane Drive and South Lane Drive. I completed North Lane Drive about 2 months ago, so I was wondering what new discoveries I would find today as I completed its partnering street.
As soon as I turned off Hird and onto South Lane Drive a sweet looking Fleetwood Cadillac Limo was staring at me. Fleetwood Cadillacs have a special place in my heart. My grandfather drove a baby blue version back in the 1980s and passed it on to my dad when he was done with it. One of my Saturday morning chores was to sweep out the garage, and I can remember as a 14-year-old getting to slowly back out that blue behemoth to complete my chore. When I was old enough to legally drive on the street, that car felt like it was gliding on clouds. I would love to get a ride around Lakewood in this limousine version.
I also noticed an almost completely full bike rack in the center of the apartment complex. About half of the bikes were four-wheel versions, having training wheels. I can imagine there are times when South Lane Drive is more like the Indianapolis Speedway with young kids on their brightly colored bikes pedaling around in ovals on this dead-end street.
