Surveyor
Within a 1/4 mile radius in the northwest corner of Lakewood, there are a trio of streets that would be confusing to substitute mail carriers and pizza delivery drivers alike. I passed them all on my jog this morning. They are Forest, West Forest and West Clifton – and they all dead-end into Clifton Boulevard. It is a beautiful area of Lakewood, but must be a bit difficult for giving directions.
Perhaps the early surveyors in this area has a similar problem, for as I reached the corner of Lake and West Forest I discovered an unusual shaped stone emerging from the sidewalk. It had strange markings on the top and looked like it had been here for over 100 years. My best guess is it’s a marker for surveying purposes.
I then completed my walk down and back West Forest. I walked both sides of the street for two reasons.
- The houses on this street are so varied and impressive, I wanted to enjoy them all.
- I was doing my own surveying to find the ideal spot to place my tiny red dinosaur.
I have enjoyed spying for hidden landscape creatures so much on my walks, I decided it was time for me to give back. I think I found the perfect habitat for my Spinosaurus, and I carefully placed him there for someone else to discover.
