Woodward

Penultimate Parade

Today was my second to last street, and we finally went international. Our family is hosting a visitor from India through our church (Dr. Nibedita Pramanik), and I convinced her this afternoon to join me on my route. Little did she know she would be biking to Detroit and Woodward, walking south over the I-90 interstate to the Cleveland border, and then biking along the Lakewood/Rocky River border all the way home. The total trip was over 5 miles, but she was quite the trooper!

Woodward also passes my office at the corner of Delaware, and we stopped briefly to grab a drink of water and allow me to change the sign in front of my office. I started a countdown a few weeks ago, and today I got to remove the “S” at the end of “STREETS”, as I only have 1 STREET TO GO! We posed in front of the sign with us both raising a triumphant “1” in the air.

I also noticed some beautiful chalk drawings earlier in my walk. There was a hopscotch that climbed to over 30 squares, a section of the sidewalk that looked like a beautiful stained-glass window, and a spooky spider web surrounded by flowers. Wait, is that an “A to Z” shoutout that I spot trapped in the web (or do I walk around Lakewood with a piece of yellow chalk in my pocket for just such an opportunity to promote my blog)???

I look forward to resting up the next two days, and then finishing my adventure with Wyandotte on Saturday afternoon.
